Every time I’m out for a walk in the summer and see flowers waving to me and birds singing a symphony it makes me grateful for our plant. Or when its winter and soft snowflakes land on my nose. But we are not keeping it as clean as we should be. Us, humans are releasing dangerous chemicals into the air, endangering not only the plant but also ourselves. Were using more than our share of resources instead of recycling and reusing. This plants the only one we have got. So why are we doing this?
Happy Earth Day and Earth! What a great opportunity to celebrate our earth! But how can we keep our plant the way it is for future generations to come? Here are some ways:Reduce,Reuse and Recycle. Recycling your juice box or reusing your siblings clothing saves money, time and the earth. Try buying plastic containers instead of zip lock bags. You can reuse your container which saves money and you’re not contributing to garbage. Remember this, you do not need to have money or fancy machines to make a positive change for the earth, it could be as simple as putting your cardboard in recycling bin.
Keeping in mind what we can do to help our plant here is a video about how our “stuff” is made and what we do with it after we are done using it. Here is a little bit about the video. Later extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It’ll teach you something, it’ll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever.
Remember earth day and being green does not just have to be today. We have the power to make earth day happen EVERYDAY. Lets help the earth not only this week but throughout our entire lives. So the thing that you cherish about nature and the earth will be there for future generations.
